Faculty, students, attend media training in UP

Senior High School faculty member Ms. Krishia Camille Soriano and Pietro Boris Benedicto D. Bacani from the College Department participated in the Forum on Promoting Human Rights Journalism in the Academe, organized by Bulatlat, an alternative media organization that upholds press freedom, digital rights, and public access to information. The forum, held at UP Diliman on October 18, underscored the essential role of educational institutions in shaping socially aware campus journalists and fostering meaningful discourse on human rights in today’s media landscape.
Strengthening this shared advocacy for responsible journalism and human rights education, they were later joined by faculty members Ms. Franchesca Valerio, Ms. Lady Charlotte D. Reyes, Mr. Anjo Christian Agdeppa, and Mr. Rainer John Rovillos, along with campus journalists Michelle Loraine H. Uy and Christian A. Caño, in attending UGNAY: The 2nd Philippine Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Summit, also held at UP Diliman, last November 8, 2025.

The second event gathered educators, advocates, and media practitioners to explore how journalism and media literacy can empower citizens and safeguard human rights in the age of digital transformation, echoing UNESCO Global MIL Week’s theme, “Minds Over AI – MIL in Digital Spaces.”
